Wide receiver Reggie Retzlaff from Colorado State University Pueblo is the Player of the Week for the games played on September 5 and 7 as picked by the Colorado Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.  RELEASE / COLORADO COMPOSITE COLLEGIATE STATISTICS 

It is the second straight week that CSU Pueblo has had a player selected as the Colorado Chapter’s POW.  ThunderWolve quarterback Devin Larsen captured the award for the games played on August 29 and 31.

Retzlaff is the 19th player from CSU Pueblo to win the award (31 POWs overall).  Since the start of the Colorado Chapter’s POW program in 2003, a wide receiver has been honored 27 times.  Retzlaff is the second Pack wide receiver to win the honor, with Andrew Cook being the first in 2022.  Cook is rehabbing this season.

CSU Pueblo (W, 43-20 vs. #21 Texas-Permian Basin) 

INDIVIDUAL STATS: In the Pack’s home opener against No. 21 Texas-Permian Basin, Retzlaff continued his hot play to open the 2024 season as he caught seven passes for 164 yards and hauled in two touchdown receptions to push his season total to five through two games. Against the Falcons, he averaged 23.4 yards per reception and had touchdown catches of 70 yards on the Pack’s fourth offensive play of the game and a 32-yard pass to give the Pack a 13-9 lead with 8:11 left in the first quarter. The 70-yard touchdown reception is the longest offensive play of the season for the Pack and second longest on the team. Retzlaff helped the Pack to a 40-23 win over the Falcons to move to 2-0 on the season and extend its winning streak to nine straight games, which is the second longest active streak in Division II football. On the season, Retzlaff has caught 18 passes for 405 yards and is averaging 22.5 yards per reception and 202.5 receiving yards per game. He also leads the league and is tied for the Division II lead in receiving TDs with five, while his 405 receiving yards are tops in Division II.

Retzlaff has caught 18 passes for 405 yards and is averaging 22.5 yards per reception and 202.5 receiving yards per game. He also leads the league and is tied for the Division II lead in receiving TDs with five. His 405 receiving yards are tops in Division II.

INDIVIDUAL STATS: 11 Solo Tackles / 3 Tackle for Loss / 1 QB hurries 

INDIVIDUAL NOTES: Joshua Silmon-Craig had a standout game against Nebraska, recording a career-high 11 solo tackles, three tackles for loss, and a quarterback hurry. His 11 solo tackles were the most by any Buffs player in a single game this season and the most by a CU safety in recent memory. The last time a CU player reached this tackle total was linebacker Juwan Mitchell on Sept. 16, 2023. Silmon-Craig’s three tackles for loss were also the most by a CU safety in recent history,

Colorado School of Mines (W, 41-13)

 INDIVIDUAL STATS: 15 carries, 154 yards, 2 TD, 10.3 ypc, 3 receptions, 16 yards

INDIVIDUAL NOTES: Running back Landon Walker had a standout season opener to lead Mines’ offense in a 41-13 win over West Texas A&M. Walker carried the ball 15 times for 154 yards and two touchdowns, averaging a huge 10.3 yards per rush, and also caught three passes for 16 yards. He scored the game’s opening touchdown on a 47-yard breakout run, then added a three-yard touchdown to start the second half.

Colorado State (W, 38-17 vs. Northern Colorado)

INDIVIDUAL STATS: 1 Punt Return, 78 return yards, return TD; 3 receptions, 65 receiving yards (52 yac), long reception of 31 yards

INDIVIDUAL NOTES: Returned a punt 78 yards for a touchdown on Colorado State’s first possession of the game. Third-career punt return TD Led Colorado State in receiving yards (65) with 52 YAC.
