Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter is the Colorado Chapter of the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame Player of the Week.

In Colorado’s 28-9 win at Colorado State this past Saturday, Hunter caught 13 passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns, had five tackles, an interception with a 38-yard return, and a pass breakup while playing 123 of 138 snaps from scrimmage against the Rams.

Hunter is the 32nd Buff to receive the honor and 45th overall since the start of the Colorado Chapter POW program in 2003.  Hunter is also the second “slash” player to win the honor, as Robert Felberg of Colorado Mesa was a quarterback/wide receiver recipient for the Mavericks in 2010.

Against Western Colorado in Grand Junction on October 30, Felberg rushed for 39 yards on three carries, passed for 21 yards and a touchdown, and caught four passes for 78 yards and a score. Felberg’s five-yard touchdown pass to Nathan Neville with 5:04 left in the game lifted Colorado Mesa to a come-from-behind 33-28 victory.

Hunter has also been recognized by the Louisville Sports Commission and the Big 12 Conference with POW honors.  Hunter has been honored with the Paul Hornung Award for the third time this season.  He won the overall Paul Hornung Award in 2023.

Hunter (defensive) joined UCF’s RJ Harvey (offensive), Kansas State’s Dylan Edwards (special teams), and West Virginia’s T.J. Jackson (newcomer) as Big 12 POWs.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES: Travis Hunter’s remarkable two-way performance, catching 13 passes for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also making 5 tackles, an interception with a 38-yard return, and a pass breakup in 123 of 138 snaps, It’s believed to be the first time in the modern era of college football history a stat line like that has happened. Setting a CU record with his fourth consecutive 100-yard receiving game, Hunter surpassed 1,000 career receiving yards at Colorado (84 receptions, 1,063 yards, 10 TDs) in just 11 and a half games. His effort tied his career high in receptions and marked his fourth game with 10 or more catches.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES: Finished with a game-high 12 tackles in a Colorado Mesa loss to #13 Central Washington in the Mavericks home opener.

Colorado School of Mines (W, 31-28 at Washburn 

INDIVIDUAL STATS: 18 carries, 142 yards, 4 TD, 7.9 ypc. 4 receptions, 19 yards

INDIVIDUAL NOTES: Landon Walker had a record-setting rushing day as he led Colorado School of Mines to a road win at Washburn. Walker rushed for 142 yards and four touchdowns on 18 carries, averaging 7.9 yards per carry, and also caught four passes for 19 yards. Walker tied the program record – and was the first Oredigger since 2019 – with four rushing touchdowns, which came on runs of 75, 1, 6, and 8 yards. His final TD, which came with 7:38 left in the third quarter, proved to be the difference-making score in the 31-28 win. Walker did not lose yards on any of his 18 carries.

CSU Pueblo (L, 24-21 vs. #3 Grand Valley State) 

INDIVIDUAL STATS: In the No. 22 Pack’s 24-21 home loss on Saturday night against No. 3 Grand Valley State, Nuschy had a career night as he finished the game with 17 tackles, including eight solo stops, and added a sack and a tackle for a loss against the Lakers. The 17 tackles were the most ever recorded by an opposing player against the Lakers and is tied for the third-most in a game by a Division II player this season. Nuschy’s prior career high in tackles was 12 last season at South Dakota Mines. With his 17 tackles, he is now fifth in the RMAC in tackles per game as he is averaging 9.7 tackles per game. In addition, the 17 tackles were the most recorded in a game this season by an RMAC player.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES: The 17 tackles are tied for the 16th most in a single game in school history and the most since Daniel Bone III recorded 16 tackles last season at Chadron State. The 17 tackles are also the third-most in a game by a Division II player this season and the most in a game this season by an RMAC player. Sits fifth in the RMAC in tackles per game as he is averaging 9.7 tackles per game. He has now recorded 190 career tackles, which is tied for 19th on the school’s all-time charts.

Fort Lewis (W, 17-12 vs. Arizona Christian) 

INDIVIDUAL STATS: Walker went 12-for-20 (60.0%) through the air for 124 yards and one touchdown and also added 57 yards and another touchdown on the ground with 15 rushing attempts. In total, Walker accounted for 181 of Fort Lewis’ 291 yards of total offense in its 17-12 win over Arizona Christian (0-1). Stone led an offense with zero turnovers, that converted on 7-of-14 (50.0%) third-down attempts, went 1-for-1 on fourth down, and scored on three of four trips to the red zone.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES: Walker has posted back-to-back games with two touchdowns… led Fort Lewis to its first victory in almost 5 years dating back to Oct. 5, 2019… helped the Skyhawks snap the longest active losing streak in college football (NAIA, NCAA DIII, NCAA DII, NCAA DI) at 40 consecutive games… currently the 2^nd leading rusher in the RMAC averaging 108.5 yards per game and 6.8 yards per rush… currently tied for 4^th in scoring with three touchdowns on the year… also ranks 6^th in the RMAC in total offense (241.0 yards per game) and 6^th in all-purpose yards (108.5 per game).

Northern Colorado (L, 24-22 vs. Abilene Christian)

INDIVIDUAL STATS: Averaged 6.3 yards, totaling 132 yards on 21 carries, with a long of 39.

Western Colorado (W, 26-17 at West Texas) 

INDIVIDUAL STATS: 136yds rushing, 3 TDs / 185 yds passing, 1 INT

INDIVIDUAL NOTES: Nash led Western to a 26-17 victory over host West Texas A&M, leading all rushers with 136 yards and scoring 3 touchdowns – including a 62-yd gallop on the Western offense’s 2nd play from scrimmage. His 136 yards on the ground led all rushers in the game. He added 185 yards through the air and late in the game picked up on the ground a pair of critical 1st downs that enabled the Mountaineers to run out the clock on the host Buffaloes. His 62-yard run falls short of only his career-best 68-yard TD run in this season’s opening-week victory.
