With the 2024 Lott IMPACT® Trophy, presented by Allied Universal!, to be announced Monday, the Colorado Buffs could collect the first of several post-season awards.
Colorado’s Travis Hunter is a finalist for the 21st Lott IMPACT® Trophy to be presented on Monday (December 9) at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas as part of the National Football Foundation festivities surrounding the 66th Awards Dinner (Tuesday).

Here are awards where players or coaches from the Centennial State are finalists or nominees.
Biletnikoff Award – Hunter joins Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan and San Jose State’s Nick Nash as the final three on the ballot. The Biletnikoff recognizes the college football season’s outstanding FBS receiver, regardless of position.
Bednarik Award – As college football’s most versatile player, Hunter is on the last list with Ohio State safety Caleb Downs and Penn State defensive lineman Abdul Carter. The Bednarik is awarded annually to the most outstanding defensive player.
Maxwell Award – Joining Hunter as the last three players on the ballot are Boise State running Ashton Jeanty and Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel. The Maxwell Award is presented to the most outstanding player in the sport, recognizing excellence on the field and exceptional contributions to the game.
O’Brien Award – Sanders is on the finalist list with Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel and Miami’s Cam Ward. The Davey O’Brien Foundation was created in 1977, and the National Quarterback Award was first issued in 1981.
Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award – Sanders is one of 16 semifinalists for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award. The award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who played and graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a four-year Division I Texas college.
Broyles Award – CU defensive coordinator Robert Livingston is one of 65 coaches considered for the 2024 award honoring college football’s top assistant coach. He is in his first season with Colorado on Deon Sanders’ staff.
Defensive lineman Makeah Scippio from CSU Pueblo and offensive tackle Nic Van de Graaf from Colorado Mines are two of the 31 finalists for the 2024 Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year.
CSU Pueblo wide receiver Reggie Retzlaff is one of eight finalists for the 2024 Harlon Hill Trophy, which recognizes the NCAA Division II College Football Player of the Year. Western Colorado defensive end Ricky Freymond and Colorado Mines wide receiver Flynn Schiele joined Retzlaff among the 43 nominees for the 2024 Harlon Hill Trophy, which recognizes the NCAA Division II College Football Player of the Year.
As for league recognition, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honored the following players and coaches from Colorado schools.
- Reggie Retzlaff, CSU Pueblo – Offensive Player of the Year
- Ricky Freymond, Western Colorado – Defensive Player of the Year
- Blake Doud, Colorado Mines (Parker, Colo.) – Special Teams Player of the Year
- Cameron Cooper, Western Colorado – Defensive Freshman of the Year
- Jas Bains, Western Colorado – Coach of the Year
With the Big XII to announce its all-conference selections on Thursday at 11 a.m., 102 players (33 that list a Colorado hometown) from Colorado colleges and universities have received all-league recognition from the Big Sky, Mountain West, and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. SEE THE LIST
