Olivia Reed of Colorado Mesa scored 45 points in the Mavericks 95-81 setback to Pittsburg State of Kansas on Friday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to tie for the second-best production in women’s Colorado collegiate basketball history.
In 39 minutes of action against Pittsburg State (10-2), Reed made 17 of 25 field goals and converted on 11 of 12 free throws as the Mavericks (7-2) were outscored 83-60 in the final three quarters after learning a 21-12 first period edge.
Reed scored 78 points and grabbed 24 rebounds in Mesa’s two Fort Lauderdale games, starting with a 64-45 win over Northwest Missouri State on Thursday. READ MORE
In 11 games this season, Reed is averaging 22 points and 11.8 rebounds while shooting 57.7 percent from the field (101-175) and 88.1 percent from the charity strip (37-42).
A junior from Windsor, Colo., Reed is averaging 16 points and 10.7 rebounds a game for her two-plus season career at Mesa.
