Thunderwolf Catch Up

This week, we have quite a bit going on with all the winter sports for CSU Pueblo.

The wrestling team showed great at Tracy Borah Duels in Gunnison at Western Colorado in Gunnison. CSU Pueblo’s wrestling team had six wins by fall, and three TF wins in the two duals, with seven wrestlers finishing 2-0 on the day.

The first match was against Simon Fraser. Most people do not know, but Simon Fraser is a part of the GNAC and is in British Columbia, Canada. The team won at almost every weight class except for two losses by decision at the 184 and 197 weight classes.

Up next was the second match against Newberry College, a D2 school in the South Atlantic Conference. Again, they won everything except a pin loss in the 197-weight class. On the day, the Pack wrestling team had a pretty dominating duel.

The women’s basketball team ended the weekend going 2-0 against CCU and UCCS, bringing the team to 6-0 in conference play. The game against UCCS was exciting to watch. We had a significant fan base that traveled to the game and brought a lot of energy. Alisha Little had two dominant games, scoring 28 in both bouts with 15 and 14 rebounds and an incredible 11 blocks against UCCS, giving her a triple-double. The women are currently tied for first in the RMAC and hope to continue the 9-game win streak on the road next weekend.

Unfortunately, the Pack men ended 0-2 on the weekend with losses to CCU at home and on the road at UCCS. We hope to get going next weekend in a challenging game at Colorado School of Mines on Thursday, currently ranked 15th in the country according to the NCAA D2 coaches poll, and on Saturday afternoon at Regis University.
