CSU Pueblo’s Reece Sharman-Newell made history over the weekend on the campus of the University of Colorado in Boulder.
A senior from Hampshire, England, Sharman-Newell became the first college athlete to run a sub-four minute mile on Colorado soil as he posted a time of 3:59.37 at the Colorado Classic on Saturday at the CU Indoor Practice Facility.
Sharman-Newell, who placed second at the 2023 NCAA Division II outdoor track and field championships in the 800 meters, was followed closely by unattached runner Yasin Sado at 3:59.56 and CU’s Isaiah Given, who holds the Buffs’ mile record, with a time of 3:59.97.
