Logan’s Run

Dave Logan is considered Colorado’s most accomplished athlete, Cleveland’s cardiac kid, and one of the country’s most successful high school head coaches.

And Logan’s career also featured his work on the radio as the “voice of the Broncos” over the last three decades.

After a high school career at Wheat Ridge in the Denver suburbs, Logan was a standout at the University of Colorado in both football and basketball before playing eight seasons in the National Football League with the Cleveland Browns after being drafted in the third round in 1976 (April 9).

In addition to the NFL selection process, Logan was drafted in 1972 by the Cincinnati Reds in the 19th round as a pitcher/infielder.  On June 8, 1976, he was drafted in the ninth round by the NBA’s Kansas City KingsLogan, George CarterNoel Jenke, Dave Winfield, and Mickey McCarty are the only three players to be picked in all three drafts.

Inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame, Logan concluded his NFL career with the Broncos in 1984.  He joined the Broncos radio booth in 1990, initially serving as a color analyst before shifting to play-by-play in 1996.

While being one of Colorado’s top radio personalities, Logan began coaching high school football in 1993 at Arvada West.  He then moved to Chatfield in 2000 and to Mullen in 2003.  He became the coach at Cherry Creek, where he continues his career.

With 32 years of high school football in Colorado with a 341-71 record, Logan has won 12 championships at four different schools – Arvada West (1997), Chatfield (2001), Mullen (2004, 2008, 2009, and 2010), and Cherry Creek (2014, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2024).
