Fort Lewis (10-5, 8-0) is one of seven teams in Division II with an undefeated conference record currently. The Skyhawks were co-champions of the regular season in the RMAC in 2022-23, but haven’t won an outright title since 2017-18. Redshirt sophomore Stewart Erhart, who was a two-time Gatorade State Player of the Year in Alaska, currently leads all of Division II in steals per game (3.50 per game) after ranking ninth last season. Stewart also leads the Skyhawks in scoring (17.5 points per game). Fort Lewis enters this week having won three straight close games, one in overtime, one by five points, and one by two points over the 15th-ranked team in the country, Black Hills State.
Centennial State Records, Results, Statistics, & Schedules – PDF
CSU Pueblo (12-4, 6-2), which was picked 12th in the preseason RMAC poll, and Colorado Mesa (10-6, 6-2) are in a three-way tie for second place in the league. These two teams will meet in a key matchup on January 29. CSU Pueblo has won five straight games on the strength of its defense. The Thunderwolves rank 15th in the country in scoring defense (63.6 ppg) and 16th in field goal percentage defense (39.0%). Pacing the team is sophomore Jordan Blair, who leads CSU Pueblo in scoring (14.4 ppg), three-point field goal percentage (45.2%), and rebounds (7.0 rpg).

Colorado Mesa will play a pivotal RMAC game on Thursday at home against Black Hills State, the preseason favorite in the league and the only conference team that is ranked nationally. In the Mavericks’ first three games of the season, they beat the third-ranked team in the country before losing by two points to the 25th-ranked team. Mesa, which is the sixth-best free-throw shooting team in the country, is led by senior guard Ty Allred. Allred’s 18.0 ppg and 8.7 rpg averages are the best on the team, and he is shooting 50.8% FG and 36.8% three-point field goals as well.
In Division I, the Colorado teams seem to be handing their in-state rivals some losses, some of which were a bit of a surprise. Denver won at Colorado State and at Northern Colorado, and then UNC won at Colorado.
Boulder will be the site of a big game on Tuesday, as Colorado (12-6, 2-3) hosts 19th-ranked Kansas in its first home game after dropping a two-point game to 14th-ranked Texas Tech. The Jayhawks have won 49 of the last 51 in the series. CU is in the minority among teams in that the leading scorer comes off the bench. Freshman Isaiah Johnson is pacing CU with 15.8 ppg, yet has started just one game this year. The top two scorers for the Buffs this season are combining for 53.4% FG, 48.1% three point FG, and 81.3% FT.

Northern Colorado (11-9, 1-6) had a big win in Boulder against the Buffs in the final game of December, but that momentum did not carry over when the calendar was flipped. UNC has lost six of the seven games in 2026 so far, including an OT loss plus three other games by five or fewer points. The Bears’ conference schedule has been very tough to start with: of the seven conference games they have played, five have been against the top four teams in the league. UNC was picked to finish third by both the coaches and the media, and this upcoming part of the schedule will go a long way in determining if that goal can be met. The Bears are a senior-laden team, as the top four scorers on the team are all seniors. Quinn Denker leads the team in both scoring (17.6 ppg) and assists (6.9 apg), the latter of which ranks 10th in the country.

Colorado State (11-7, 2-5) somewhat followed UNC’s footsteps, beating CU but then could not maintain that level of play as they began Mountain West play at 2-5. CSU this week will face nearly the extremes in opponents, playing an Air Force team that has won just three games this season, before hosting a ranked Utah State team that already beat CSU by 42 points this year. However, unlike UNC, the Rams have just one senior on the roster. CSU’s strength this season has been its long-distance shooting, as the Rams are third in the nation at 40.9%. CSU is 10-1 this season when making at least nine from behind the arc, while just 2-6 when making eight or fewer. Sophomore Kyle Jorgenson currently leads a pack of four Rams with similar numbers, and is averaging 12.9 ppg while shooting 48.6% from deep.
