RMAC men’s hoop leaders on the road this weekend

This week’s men’s collegiate schedule will spotlight the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference as league-leading Fort Lewis takes to the road while nationally-ranked Black Hills State visits the Centennial State for the fourth-time this season.

With the state of Colorado’s Division I teams not in contention in the Big Sky (Northern Colorado), Big XII (Colorado), Mountain West (Air Force and Colorado State), and Summit (Denver), five of the 10 RMAC teams from the Centennial State have winning conference records.

Fort Lewis (12-0, 14-6) plays at Adams State (7-5, 13-7) on Thursday in Alamosa and at New Mexico Highlands (7-5, 9-14) on Saturday in Las Vegas.  Adams State hosts Highlands on Tuesday to open this week’s RMAC schedule.

Black Hills State (10-2, 17-3) visits CSU Pueblo (7-5, 13-7) on Thursday and UC Colorado Springs (6-6, 11-9) on Saturday.  The Yellowjackets, who have posted a 5-1 record in the Centennial State this season, were ranked 19th in last week’s National Association of Basketball Coaches poll.

In NCAA Division III play, Colorado College (6-4, 8-11) is tied for third in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference’s Gold grouping with Schreiner.  The Tigers play at Schriener on Sunday.

Northeastern Junior College of Sterling (5-2, 14-8) and Lamar Community College (4-2, 10-12) are second and third in the Region 9 Southern Division standings.  Northeastern hosts Otero (2-4, 3-17) and Trinidad State (2-4, 9-12) this week, while Lamar is on the road at McCook (3-4, 13-10) and division-leading North Platte (6-1, 14-8).
