10 Centennial State collegiates advanced to NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Ten student-athletes from Centennial State colleges and universities have qualified for the final round of the men’s and women’s outdoor track & field championships in Eugene, Ore.

The five men and five women competitors earned their spot in the finals by qualifying this past week at the NCAA Division I Western Regionals in Fayetteville, Ark.  The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place at Hayward Field in Eugene from June 10-13.

  •  Texas Tanner, hammer throw, 1st, 74.49 meters / 244-feet-4 inches & discus, 4th, 57.04 meters / 187-feet-2 inches.

In the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Emporia, Kan., on May 21-23, Colorado Mines and CSU Pueblo paced the Centennial State efforts by combining for three individual titles, 11 medals, and 13 podiums, while placing among the top 15 in team scoring.

After Emily LaMena and Sierra Wall finished one-two in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday, Grace Strongman’s championship run in the 5,000 meters propelled the Colorado Mines women to their first-ever team podium finish as the Orediggers tied for third with 40 points.  READ MORE

In the men’s competition, Mines finished 11th with 25 points, highlighted by Dawson Gunn’s second-place finish in the 5,000 meters on Saturday after Max Bonenberger collected the silver medal on Friday in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

For CSU Pueblo, the ThunderWolves’ Caleb McLeod captured the men’s 1,500-meter run, and Xavier Freeman placed second in the shot put to earn a 15th-place finish for the Steel City crew with 18 points.  READ MORE

The Pack tied for 13th in the women’s competition with 20 points as Helen Braybrook and Jadyn Herron placed second and fifth in the 1,500 meters after Febe Wessels had placed second in the shot put for CSUP.

Also scoring points in the men’s competition were Adams State (16th, 17 points), Western Colorado (49th, 2), and UCCS (57th, 1).  Adams State (30th, 10 points), Western Colorado (tied for 56th, 2), and Fort Lewis (tied for 56th, 2) also scored points in the women’s competition.

Here is the list of point scorers for the Colorado schools in the NCAA Division II championships.  Colorado schools compiled 13 medal placements and 24 podium placements.
