The Mountain West has officially launched its new direct-to-consumer digital subscription platform MW+. Powered by streaming tech and services company Kiswe, the new platform will serve as the dedicated home for conference and member school live events, original programming and on-demand content not available through traditional broadcast partners. MW+ will be available for an annual subscription of $79.99 or a monthly subscription of $10.99. Commissioner Gloria Nevarez: “MW+ is a game-changer for the Mountain West. Not only are we expanding how fans connect with our schools and student-athletes, but we’re also creating a powerful new revenue stream that directly benefits our member institutions. This is about building the future of our Conference, and this platform allows us to deliver more of our stories, more of our student-athletes, and more of our live events directly to the audiences who care most.” (link)

➤ Discussing the concept that the last two years of hardships helped change the league’s mindset: ”I think it’s really accurate. Some of that courage comes from the resilience that we developed by going through what we’ve already been through. … That is absolutely real. I think it developed this foundational conviction around like, ‘We’re going to swing for the fences. We don’t care what anybody says. We’re going to do this and we’re going to do it our way. And if at times we miss, we miss.’ But you’re never going to kind of climb the mountain if you’re not willing to kind of take the falls along with that.” ➤ What are the league’s strategic priorities over the next few years? “Competitive excellence always has to be a part of it. We are competing to win and I’m never going to back off of that. … We’re going to have a set of competitive metrics that we shoot for year in and year out and that we set policy against to make sure that we’re all positioned well to invest to compete. Brand elevation is a big one for us. When we talk about our future and who we want to be, we have to have all nine programmatic and institutional brands be relevant. … Fan engagement. … We want to be the party bus. We want people to engage with us and want to be connected to our league. … We also feel like with Pac-12 Enterprises, we’re really well situated from a resource perspective to make sure that we are giving resources back to our campuses to support student athletes in those programs.” (link) |
