Centennial State preseason football projections

With the Big XII Conference staging its preseason football media days on July 7-8 in Frisco, Texas, the Mountain West Conference was front and center this week in Las Vegas, where Air Force had two players named to the early all-league teams.

Northern Colorado will participate in the Big Sky Football Kickoff Weekend on July 25-27 in Spokane, Wash.  Coach Ed Lamb leads the Bear attendees along with offensive lineman Levi Johnson (Colorado Springs) and defensive lineman Blake Weslin (Lakewood).

The revamped Pac-12 Conference will be the only FBS conference not hosting football media days this offseason.  The league’s deputy commissioner, Rick Hart, stated that
conference is skipping the tradition in part because “those are expensive.”

CU did not have any players earn preseason recognition at the event where Coach Deion Sanders appeared, along with quarterback Julian Lewis, wide receiver Danny Scudero, tight end Zach Atkins, and defensive backs Ben Finneseth (Durango), Naeten Mitchell, and Cree Thomas. READ MORE

Seniors running back Owen Allen and linebacker Blake Fletcher were on the All-Mountain West preseason teams.  Wilson rushed for 750 yards last season for the Falcons with five scores, while Fletcher had 108 tackles.  READ MORE

The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference stages its annual media day on Wednesday (July 22) at the CAVEA Theater (4th floor, 890 Auraria Pkwy, 80202) on the campus of MSU Denver, with six Colorado schools involved: Adams State, Colorado Mesa, Colorado Mines, CSU Pueblo, Fort Lewis, and Western Colorado.  READ MORE
