NFF Colorado Chapter Prepares to Kick Off 24th Season of Collegiate Player of the Week Honors

As the crisp autumn air approaches and college football programs across the Centennial State gear up for a new campaign, the Colorado Chapter of the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) is ready to launch another season of recognizing the region’s top gridiron talent.

The first Player of the Week (POW) recipient for the 2026 season will be officially announced on September 1, continuing a proud tradition that began more than two decades ago, in 2002.  HISTORY PDF

A Storied Tradition of Recognizing Excellence

Owen Allen

Developed in 2002, the NFF Colorado Chapter Player of the Week program highlights standout performances across all levels of collegiate football in the state.

The selection process is a collaborative effort between the chapter’s board of directors and the sports information departments representing all 10 colleges and universities that sponsor varsity football in Colorado. Each week during the season, these stakeholders cast their votes to honor the athletes who shine brightest on the field.

Looking ahead to the upcoming 2026 slate, anticipation is already building. Air Force fullback Owen Allen—one of the conference’s premier returnees for 2026—carries special distinction into the new year, having earned the 14th and final recognition of the 2025 season on December 2, 2025.
