Colorado Collegiate Fall Sports Weekly Rankings Report, October 6

Colorado collegiate athletics continue to make national waves across the fall sports landscape. From gridiron battles on the plains to cross country dominance and elite soccer and hockey rankings, Centennial State programs are holding their ground among the nation’s best.

Football: Division II Showdown Brewing

In this week’s NCAA Division II poll conducted by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), two RMAC powerhouses hold strong national positioning:

  • CSU Pueblo (6-0) checks in at No. 4 in the country.

  • Western Colorado (6-0) is right behind at No. 7.

Mark your calendars for November 14, when these two undefeated heavyweights collide in the regular-season finale at the ThunderBowl in Pueblo.

Soccer: Regional Contenders Lead the Polls

Colorado programs are well-represented across national United Soccer Coaches rankings:

  • Men’s D2: CSU Pueblo leads the charge at No. 7 (8-0-2), followed by UCCS at No. 23 (6-1-5) and Regis receiving votes (4-3-3).

  • Women’s D1: Colorado (8-3-1) holds No. 24.

  • Women’s D2: Regis (10-2-0) climbs to No. 22.

  • Women’s D3: Colorado College (7-2-1) is receiving votes.

Volleyball: Spanning the Divisions

National polls highlight depth across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III for Colorado volleyball:

  • Division I: Colorado (11-3) is ranked No. 23, with Colorado State (11-3) receiving votes.

  • Division II: Colorado Mesa (13-3), MSU Denver (10-6), and Colorado Mines (13-3) are all pulling in votes.

  • Division III: Colorado College (11-2) is receiving national votes.

Cross Country: Centennial State Dominance

The USTFCCCA polls showcase extraordinary depth, with six of the 16 schools in the Centennial State ranked in both the men’s and women’s divisions:

  • Division I: Colorado ranks No. 6 in the men’s poll and No. 16 in the women’s poll.

  • Division II Powerhouses:

    • Adams State: Men 3rd, Women 1st

    • Colorado Mines: Men 2nd, Women 4th

    • Western Colorado: Men 5th, Women 5th

    • UCCS: Men 13th, Women 7th

    • CSU Pueblo: Men 24th, Women 18th

Men’s Ice Hockey: USCHO Poll

On the ice, the USCHO Men’s Hockey Poll puts Denver at No. 1, while Colorado College opens strong at No. 18.
