CC, DU & AF men’s hockey update

The college hockey season is heating up fast, and Colorado’s men’s college hockey programs are once again commanding national attention.

From Ed Robson Arena in Colorado Springs to Magness Arena in Denver and the disciplined at the Academy, local fans have plenty to cheer about. Let’s check in on the records and early highlights for Colorado College, the University of Denver, and the United States Air Force Academy.

Colorado College Tigers

  • Record: 6–2–0 Overall (1–1–0 National Collegiate Hockey Conference)

  • Upcoming:  The Tigers host Lindenwood (3-5-0) on Friday (7 p.m.) and Saturday (4 p.m.).
  • The Story: The Tigers have burst out of the gate with a stellar 6–2–0 record, establishing themselves as a major force and locking down a prominent spot in the national rankings. Ed Robson Arena has quickly become one of the toughest places to play in the country, where CC has put together a blistering home start.

Player Spotlights & Early Highlights:

The Tigers’ early success has come from a balanced attack and a stingy defensive core.

  • Carmelo Crandell and Bret Link have set a fiery early pace, each with 3 goals and strong chemistry in the attacking zone.

  • Philippe Blais-Savoie has chipped in dynamically from the blue line/forward spots with a pair of goals and three assists.

  • Meanwhile, blueliner Fisher Scott has quietly put together an exceptional start with 5 assists and a stellar +9 rating, anchoring a CC defense that is suffocating opponents.

University of Denver Pioneers

  • Record: 5–2–1 Overall (2–0–0 National Collegiate Hockey Conference)

  • Upcoming:  The Pioneers play NCHC games at Arizona State (5-3, 1-1) in Tempe on Friday (7 p.m.) and Sunday (12 p.m.).
  • The Story: Sitting comfortably at No. 3 nationally, the Pioneers continue to skate with the swagger of a national championship contender. DU opened their home slate against heavy-hitting national competition, including a battle against powerhouse Michigan and a thrilling weekend series against Boston College, where the Pios grabbed a 5–2 win before battling to a hard-fought 2–2 tie. They most recently swept Omaha to push their record to 5–2–1.

Player Spotlights & Early Highlights:

Under the bright lights of Magness Arena, the Pioneers’ roster is once again brimming with elite offensive firepower and relentless forechecking. David Carle’s squad is finding ways to strike efficiently in high-leverage moments, capitalizing on special teams and deep line rotations. The Pios’ veteran leadership and composure under pressure—especially during their grueling non-conference gauntlet—have proven that Denver is built for another deep March run.

United States Air Force Academy Falcons

  • Record: 3–5–0 Overall (1–1–0 American Hockey Association)

  • Upcoming:  The Falcons host Army (5-1-0) for AHA games on Friday (7:05 p.m.) and Saturday (5:05 p.m.).
  • The Story: Out at the Cadet Ice Arena, the Air Force Falcons are hard at work navigating a typically rugged schedule. Sitting at 3–5–0 overall, Frank Serratore’s squad has shown trademark grit, splitting their early Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) series against Robert Morris on the road (winning 3–2 before a narrow 3–2 setback).

Player Spotlights & Early Highlights:

The Falcons are leaning on their customary team-first identity, structured defense, and relentless work ethic to grind out results. Air Force has proven they can hang tough in close, one-goal battles, and as conference play intensifies through November, the Falcons look poised to climb the AHA standings behind strong special teams execution and disciplined forechecking.
