Team Colorado wins THE TOURNAMENT hoop opener

Team Colorado defeated Purple Reign 71-67 in a back-and-forth game on Saturday (July 20) at Koch Arena in Wichita, Kan.

Andre Roberson’s layup on the final play of the game lifted Team Colorado above the Elam Ending target score of 70. Roberson, who played three seasons at Colorado (2010-2013) before a seven-season NBA career, finished with nine points and a game-high nine rebounds.

D’Shawn Schwartz (Colorado Springs Sand Creek High and CU) led Team Colorado with 21. Jaizec Lottie (Aurora Cherokee Trail High) and Michael Holyfield added 10 points each for Team Colorado, which is coached by Zach Ruebesam (Berthoud High and CU).

Team Colorado will face the AfterShocks, the Wichita State alumni team, in the Round of 32 on Monday at 7 p.m. (MT) at Koch Arena. The AfterShocks posted an 86-71 win over Midtown Prestige earlier Saturday.  BUFF PRE-TOURNAMENT RELEASE / POST-GAME VIDEO / BOX SCOREBRACKET
