
Ken Charlton, one of the University of Colorado’s pivotal players on the highly successful men’s basketball team in the early 1960’s, passed away from complications of Alzheimer’s disease on July 17 in St. Augustine, Fla. He was 83.
An all-state player at Denver South when he led the Rebels to the Class AAA title in 1958, Charlton was a consensus first-team All-American for the 1962-1963 season and was named to the first-ever Academic All-America team, coordinated by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
