Broomfield rallied from a 28-7 deficit in the first half to score the final 28 points in the contest to down Montrose 35-28 in the Class 4A Colorado High School Activities Association football title game on Saturday at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins.
Quarterback Darien Jackson, the most outstanding player in the contest as selected by the Colorado Chapter of the National Football Foundation, passed for two touchdowns before scoring the game-winner on a two-yard run with 4:30 left.
Montrose (13-1) led 28-7 with 40 seconds left in the first half on an 11-yard touchdown pass to Aidan Grijalva to cap a nine-play, 62-yard drive.
Broomfield (13-1) started its comeback 37 seconds later when Jackson hit Mikhail Benner for a 10-yard scoring streak with three seconds left in the second quarter to highlight a six-play, 80-yard drive.
