Rick George interview with former Buff kicker Mason Crosby

Rick George

Colorado AD Rick George joined The Mason Crosby Show and explained that he acknowledges the challenge the College Football Playoff Selection Committee faces.

George said, “I don’t think the Big 12 got a lot of respect. We got, I think, ten teams going to bowl games in our conference. That’s one of the highest out there, and we’ve got one in the playoffs. I thought we didn’t get the respect early, but that’s the committee’s decision. I think they need to fine-tune exactly how important the strength of the schedule is. How important is the head-to-head?”

The Buff leader said CU delivered a $1-billion economic impact in the state, and it “took us five years to do that before 2021. You mentioned $10 million of direct visitor spending in our community and $31 million in a direct economic impact when you include the concerts and the different things we do. Twenty percent of our fans now come from outside the state…[and] all of that translates into our economic impact in our community and the state. We need to get our businesses in this community to understand how important we are to their bottom line and get them to support some of our actions.”
