
Senior Mya Lesnar captured the shot put title at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday with a throw of 62 feet, 4 inches (19.01 meters) during the second day of competition in Eugene, Ore.
The podium-topping performance was her second NCAA national title, following her 2024 indoor crown (60’9 1/2″, 18.53 meters) in Boston, Mass. Lesnar has won the women’s Mountain West Conference outdoor shot put title four consecutive times.
From Alexandria, Minn., Lesnar is also the Mountain West Female Athlete of the Year. She is the second woman to win an NCAA outdoor title for the Rams. Loree Smith won the hammer throw (224’8″, 68.47 meters) in 2005 at Sacramento, Calif.
In other action for the state of Colorado on Thursday, senior Nick Bianco of Colorado (7,651 points) and freshman Brayden Richards (7,488) of Air Force placed 13th and 18th, respectively, in the decathlon. Peyton Bair of Mississippi State won the decathlon with 8,323 points.
Kajsa Borrman of Colorado State concluded her NCAA competition on Thursday by placing 21st in the women’s hammer throw (207’3″, 63.19 meters).
Two state of Colorado athletes remain in the competition with Air Force junior Texas Tanner in the men’s discus throw on Friday and junior Klaire Kovatch of Colorado in the women’s discus event on Saturday. Tanner placed fourth (246’9″, 75.22 meters) in the hammer throw on Wednesday.
