Led by 16 players from Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference champions Colorado State Pueblo, the 2025 All-Colorado collegiate football team was announced Wednesday by the Colorado Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.
In total, 54 players were recognized on either the first or second team by the Colorado Chapter, with eight from Northern Colorado, six each from Air Force and Western Colorado, five each from Colorado Mines and Colorado State, four from Colorado, and two each from Colorado Mesa and Fort Lewis.
The team was selected by the Colorado Chapter’s board of directors, in partnership with the College Sports Communicators, from 10 Colorado colleges and universities that field football teams. Sixteen (16) of the honorees played high school football in Colorado.
Quarterback Drew Nash from Western Colorado (offense), linebacker Jake Penny from Fort Lewis (defense), and punter Bryan Hansen from Colorado State (special teams) were named the players of the year.

Philip Vigil of CSU Pueblo was named the coach of the year after leading the ThunderWolves to their second-straight RMAC title and a 25-game winning streak in the 10-school league. In three seasons in Pueblo, Vigil has compiled a 28-7 record with two NCAA Division II post-season appearances.
Vigil, who played high school football (Faith Lutheran) and college football (Colorado Mesa) in Colorado, is the second CSU Pueblo coach to be honored by the NFFCC.
John Wristen was honored four times as the chapter’s coach of the year in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2017. Like Vigil, Wristen played high school (Pueblo South) and college (CSU Pueblo) in Colorado.

Nash, a Harlan Hill finalist for the NCAA Division II top player award, led the RMAC in passing touchdowns (33), total offense (291.6 yards per game), points responsible for (264), and points responsible for per game (22.0). His total passing yards (2,938) were the second most in the RMAC, and his 11 rushing touchdowns were the third most.
Within national statistical categories, the Western Colorado senior ranked second in DII in points responsible for per game, third in total points responsible for and in passing touchdowns, and 11th in total offense per game.
Nash is the second player to win player of the year honors and the first to be honored offensively. The Mountaineer lineman Will Lydle was the NFFCC’s top defender for the 2021 season.

Penney had 150 total tackles (65 solo) and an average of 13.6 tackles per game to lead the nation in NCAA Division I and II. The junior linebacker was second behind the Division III leader Nick Iannone (14.1 total tackles per game) of Guilford.
In the RMAC, Penney was also seventh in tackles for loss with 11.0 for 29 yards lost, 16th in sacks with 3.5 for 16 yards lost, tied for the sixth-most fumbles forced with two, and also broke up two passes and forced one quarterback hurry.
Penney is the first player from Fort Lewis to win a player of the year honor from the NFF Colorado Chapter.

A junior, Hansen finished third nationally (tied for fifth overall among all NCAA divisions) in the Football Bowl Subdivision with an average of 47.89, the third-best single-season average in CSU history.
Hansen had a season-long of 67 yards among his 57 attempts, with 23 covering 50 yards or longer, 13 landing inside the two, with six fair catches forced.
Since the start of the POY program, Hansen is the third Colorado State punter to be honored by the Colorado Chapter. Hayden Hunt captured the honor in 2025 and 2016, and Ryan Stonehouse topped the chart in 2018, 2020 and 2021.

CSU Pueblo wide receiver Reggie Retzlaff and Western Colorado defensive lineman Ricky Freymond earned their third-straight All-Coloradoan first-team selection. Penney and CSU Pueblo offensive lineman Tyler Ethridge were first-team NFFCC picks in 2024.

On Wednesday, Retzlaff and Freymond were named to the American Football Coaches’ second team NCAA Division II All-American squad, along with freshman long snapper Josh Hildebrand from Colorado School of Mines.
Freymond, Nash, and Retzlaff were named on Thursday to the Associated Press’ Division II All-American team. Retzlaff was picked on the first team, with Nash being recognized as a second-team all-purpose player. Freymond was also a second-team AP selection.
The ThunderWolves also had two other performers with prior All-Coloradoan recognition: running back Kiahn Martinez (first team in 2023) and offensive lineman Domingo Prince II (2nd team in 2023 and 2024).
