Fort Lewis bounces back in RMAC men’s hoop chase

With the 17th-ranked Black Hills State validating its leadership in the men’s Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with a win at Alamosa on Thursday against Adams State, Fort Lewis snapped a four-game losing streak to tie Colorado Mesa for second-place in the league standings.

With four straight road setbacks after winning their first 12 conference games, Fort Lewis (13-4, 15-9) posted an 80-65 win over Chadron State in Durango to move into a spot behind Black Hills State (14-3, 21-4), which won 79-69 at Adams State (10-7, 16-9).  FORT LEWIS WEB ARTICLE / ADAMS STATE WEB ARTICLE

Colorado Mesa (13-4, 17-8) missed its chance to be in a first-place tie with Black Hills State as the Mavericks dropped a 73-68 decision to Westminster on Tuesday in Salt Lake City.  COLORADO MESA WEB ARTICLE

CSU Pueblo (12-5, 18-7) joins the RMAC’s top three schools as participants in the league’s postseason tournament, after the ThunderWolves won their fifth-straight game with a 67-58 victory at MSU Denver on Thursday.  CSU PUEBLO WEB ARTICLE

The RMAC post-season for both men and women features quarter-final games on March 3 at campus sites.  The highest remaining seed after the opening contests will host the semi-finals and championship game on March 7 and 8.

The post-season winner earns the RMAC automatic bid in the NCAA Division II championships.  Black Hills State, Mesa, and Fort Lewis are ranked among the South Central region’s top teams, along with five Lone Star Conference schools.  NCAA.COM RANKINGS
