RMAC berths set Saturday, seedings to be determined next week

Saturday’s action in the men’s Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference determined the participants for the postseason tournament, but this coming week’s game will determine the final seedings and set the schedule for the quarterfinal games on March 3.

Adams State (11-7, 17-9), Colorado Mines (10-8, 14-15), New Mexico Highlands (10-8, 12-17), and UCCS  (10-8, 15-11) secured the final four berths on Saturday. Black Hills State  (15-3, 22-4), Colorado Mesa (14-4, 18-8), Fort Lewis (14-4, 16-9), and CSU Pueblo (13-5, 19-7) earned their berths last week.

The final host role for the March 3 quarterfinals is still to be determined.  CSU Pueblo needs one win or an Adams State loss next weekend to secure a home game in the playoffs.  The ThunderWolves entertain both Fort Lewis on Thursday and Adams State on Saturday in Pueblo.  Adams State is at UCCS in Colorado Springs on Thursday.

Black Hills State, ranked 17th nationally, can secure the No. 1 seed with home wins next week versus Westminster (7-11, 12-14) on Thursday and Colorado Mesa on Saturday.  The Yellowjacks defeated Mesa 85-63 in Grand Junction on January 22.

Fort Lewis, which led the RMAC after winning its first 12 conference games before losing its next four, plays at Colorado Christian (7-11, 12-14) in Lakewood on Saturday to end its regular-season schedule.

Saturday’s schedule also featured NCAA Division I wins by Colorado (5-9 Big XII Conference, 15-9), Colorado State (8-8 Mountain West Conference, 17-10), Denver (8-7 Summit League, 15-15) and Northern Colorado (8-7 Big Sky Conference, 18-10) as each schools competes for a better seeding in their conference’s post-season tournaments.

Air Force (0-16 Mountain West, 3-24), which has lost its last 20 games after losing at THE Academy on Saturday to UNLV 91-66, announced on Friday that the school was “parting ways with Joe Scott.”  READ MORE
