Colorado Christian’s 47-game softball winning streak snapped in Pueblo

Colorado State University Pueblo snapped a 21-game losing streak to Colorado Christian as the Pack used a five-run first inning in the nightcap of a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference twinbill to post a 9-5 win over the third-ranked Cougars in the Steel City.

No foolin’, the last time the ThunderWolves downed Colorado Christian in softball was on April 1, 2019, in Pueblo when CSUP posted a 5-4 win in 10 innings.

The CSU Pueblo (33-9, 37-15) win also halted a 47-game victory string for Colorado Christian (41-1, 51-3), which posted a 4-3 triumph in the first game on Friday at the Rawlings Softball Complex.  CSU PUEBLO ARTICLE / COLORADO CHRISTIAN ARTICLE

With the two teams ending the regular season on Saturday with another doubleheader, CSU Pueblo’s win marked the school’s first home victory over a ranked opponent and first win against a Top 25 team since Feb. 24, 2020, at No. 13 Dixie State (now Utah Tech).

Colorado Christian and CSU Pueblo will be the top two seeds in the RMAC Championships next week in Lakewood, where both schools have a bye in the quarterfinals and open play May 8 in the semifinals. CHAMPIONSHIPS / STANDINGS
