Colorado colleges and universities are competing on several fronts as the 2025-2026 collegiate athletic season winds down.
Here is a preview of this week’s play, featuring the top-ranked Colorado Mesa baseball team (52-5) vying for a berth in the NCAA Division II World Series starting Thursday in Grand Junction.
In addition to the NCAA track & field championships in Kansas (Division II) and Wisconsin (Division III), Colorado Christian’s men’s golf team started competing in southern Nevada on Monday, seeking to regain the Division II title it captured in 2024.
MEN’S GOLF DIVISION I – The University of Colorado is competing as a team starting Monday in Texas at an NCAA regional. The Buffs are one of 14 schools in Bryan for the event that qualifies teams for the NCAA Championships on May 29 through June 3 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. MEN’S GOLF DIVISION II – Colorado Christian has advanced to the NCAA Division II Championships in Boulder City, Nev., as the 23rd-ranked Cougars are one of 20 schools vying for the title. Colorado Christian won the 2024 title. Colorado State University Pueblo has one competitor in the NCAA Division II Championships in Nevada, as Archie Wyatt competes for individual honors. MEN’S & WOMEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD DIVISION I – With the conference concluding this past weekend, as the Colorado State University men captured the Mountain West title in Clovis, Calif., the Centennial State schools now prepare for the regionals (May 27-30 at Fayetteville, Ark.) to qualify for the Outdoor Track & Field Championships on June 10-13 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. NCAA DIVISION I BASEBALL – With regular-season play concluded, Air Force (15-9, 25-26) and Northern Colorado (13-15, 16-36) enter post-season play this week. Seeded third in the Mountain West Conference event, Air Force plays sixth-seeded UNLV (11-13, 30-24) on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Sloan Park in Mesa, Ariz. UNC is seeded third in The Summit League playoffs, with the Bears challenging second-seeded Omaha (16-11, 21-24) at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Siebert Field in Minneapolis. READ MORE – AFA / UNC
NCAA DIVISION II BASEBALL – It is business as usual for Colorado Mesa (52-5) as the nation’s top-ranked team hosts Texas Tyler (46-11) in the NCAA South Central Super Regional, which starts Thursday at 7 p.m. at The Diamond at Hamilton Ballpark in Grand Junction. NCAA DIVISION I WOMEN’S LACROSSE – The University of Colorado (16-4) saw its season end with a heartbreaking 13-12 setback in NCAA quarterfinals last Thursday to top-ranked Northwestern (17-3) in Evanston, Ill. To reach the “elite eight”, CU posted an 11-9 win over Denver (16-4) in Boulder on May 10. READ MORE
NCAA DIVISION II WOMEN’S LACROSSE – Regis University (14-6) dropped a 17-8 decision to Rockhurst on May 7 in the first round of the Midwest Regional Tournament on Thursday. The Rangers were ranked #19 in the final national poll. READ MORE
NCAA DIVISION III WOMEN’S LACROSSE – Colorado College (16-4) had its 12-match winning streak snapped on Saturday in the NCAA “Sweet 16” in Medford, Mass., as the Tigers fell 16-5 to Williams College. READ MORE
NCAA DIVISION III MEN’S LACROSSE – Colorado College (12-4) ended its season with an 11-4 setback to York College of Pennsylvania in the second round of the NCAA playoffs in Lynchburg, Va. READ MORE

NCAA DIVISION I WOMEN’S TENNIS – The University of Denver (16-8) used a Summit League title to earn a spot in the national championships for the 12th-straight season. The Pioneers’ season ended with a 4-0 setback at Arizona State on May 1. READ MORE
NCAA DIVISION III MEN’S TENNIS – Colorado College (14-7) made its first appearance in the NCAAs after winning the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title at the end of April. However, the Tigers dropped a 4-0 decision to Sewanee on May 8 in Claremont, Calif. READ MORE
