On a day when Colorado Mesa evened its NCAA Division II Super Regional series with Texas Tyler at 1-1, the Mavericks received news that four of its players earned All-American recognition by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
After dropping a 21-15 decision to Tyler on Thursday evening in a four-hour slugfest at The Diamond at Hamilton Ballpark in front of a capacity crowd of 1,564, Colorado Mesa (53-6) used a nine-run second inning on Friday to post a 20-4 victory over the Patriots (47-12) before 1,174 fans. The third and deciding game in the series will be on Saturday at 7 p.m.

In addition to the four players honored, Mesa coach Chris Hanks was named the national coach of the year. In his 28th season in Grand Junction as the Mavericks’ head coach, Hanks has compiled a 1,164-434 record.
The 53 wins match a Mesa record for victories in a season, initially set during the 2019 season, when the Mavericks posted 53-12 en enroute to a second-place finish in the NCAA Division II Championships.
Senior outfielder Kolby Felix was named to the NCBWA All-America First Team after earning South Central Region Player of the Year last week. Freshman pitcher Jackson Eisenhauer was named the NCBWA All-American Second Team after his first collegiate campaign. The Los Angeles, Calif. native earned NCBWA and D2CCA South Central Region Pitcher of the Year honors earlier on his way to the All-American honors. Sophomore outfielder Sage Ferguson and senior pitcher Ezra Farmer earned NCBWA Honorable Mention All-American honors as they appeared on at least four ballots. READ MORE
