Buffs top Learfield Division I Centennial State standings

The final NCAA Division I 2025-2026 Learfield Director Cup standings, which recognize overall success and national championship performances, have been released, with the University of Colorado leading the way for the five Centennial State schools in the rankings.  READ MORE

Led by a second-place finish in the NCAA Ski Championships and a fifth in women’s lacrosse, the Buffs tallied points in 10 sports and finished with a score of 503 to place 53rd in the 2025-2026 Learfield Director Cup standings.

CU improved its standings by 16 spots over the 69th placement the previous academic year, when the Buffs scored 325.5 points.  CU has led the Centennial State schools in four of the past five seasons, with DU topping the Colorado “five” in 2023-2024 at 46th.

The University of Denver was 66th this season as the Pioneers won the NCAA Division I men’s hockey title for the third time in the past five seasons.  DU also placed third in skiing this season, as the Pioneers scored 383.5 total points in seven championships

The United States Air Force Academy showed the biggest improvement this academic year, placing 77th overall with tallies in seven championships for 306.5 points.  The Falcons were 105th for the 2024-2025 campaign with 174.5 points.

Colorado State finished 196th out of 299 schools with 74.5 points in three championships.  Northern Colorado was 251st with 40 points in two events.  The previous season, the Rams were 93rd (204 points), and the Bears were 176th (85 points).

As previously announced, Colorado Mines, Colorado Mesa, Colorado State Pueblo, and Adams State finished in the top 25 in the NCAA Division II standings.  READ MORE

Mines led the way as the Orediggers teams placed seventh with 698.5 Learfield points, followed by Mesa (11th, 632.5), CSU Pueblo (19th, 529.75), and Adams State (25th, 512.50).

A total of 251 schools were ranked with UC Colorado Springs (51st, 354.50), Western Colorado (66th, 306.5), Western Colorado (66th, 306.50), Colorado Christian (90th, 241.25), MSU Denver (153rd, 125.00), Fort Lewis (160th, 118.50), and Regis (228th, 25th).

In NCAA Division III, Colorado College placed 45th with 395 points.
