Medders is the second Falcon to earn POW recognition this season and the 34th all-time since the award began in 2002.  Overall, the Air Force has earned 39 of the POW certificates.  Liam Szarka, who Medders replaced as the Falcon quarterback, won the NFFCC honor two weeks ago after leading the Falcons to a win at Nevada.

In Air Force’s 28-7 win at Northern Illinios, the sophomore quarterback from Maxhaw, N. C, rushed for 114 yards on 16 carries in his first career start for the Falcons. With a 41-yard run, Medders did not attempt a pass, and he got seven first downs on his carries.

In a multi-touchdown game, this was his first career touchdown. Meeder’s first scoring run gave Air Force a 14-7 lead.  His second touchdown run, a career-long 41-yard run, clinched the game late in the third quarter.

He engineered a dominant rushing performance as the Falcons totaled 439 yards and had five players with seven or more carries.  He became the first AF quarterback to win his first-career start since 2024.

Linebacker Carter Daniels (Week 0) and quarterback Navi Bruzon (Week 2) from Colorado State Pueblo, quarterback Hauss Hejny (Week 1) from Colorado State, quarterback Joseph Capra (Week 3), running back Max Barnes (Week 5) of Colorado School of Mines, and quarterback Liam Szarka (Week 4) were the first six NFFCC recipients.

With eight of the 10 Colorado-based football teams idle last week, Northern Colorado sophomore wide receiver Trey Olson was the other nominee presented this week to Sarah Meier, coordinator of the POW program for the Colorado Chapter. PAST RECIPIENTS

Trey Olsen

A sophomore wide receiver from Loveland High School, the Fort Collins resident was the primary target all game in Northern Colorado’s 31-22 setback at Eastern Washington. Olsen finished with career highs in receptions (8) and receiving yards (103).
