
CSU Pueblo product Beau Brieske picked up his second post-season save as he pitched a perfect ninth inning on Monday to end the Detroit Tigers’ 3-0 American League Division Series win at the Cleveland Guardians.
In three of the Tigers’ four post-season games, Brieske has not yielded a run in three-and-a-third innings with three strikeouts. He pitched in both of Detroit’s “Wild Card” series wins at the Houston Astros.
In his third season with the Tigers, after being picked in the 27th round by Detroit in the 2019 MLB draft, Brieske pitched a season at CSU Pueblo in 2019 and posted a 7-5 record for the ThunderWolves.
A Chandler, Ariz., prep product, Brieske pitched in 46 games this season with 12 starts and a 4-5 won-lost mark. For 67.2 innings pitched, he had a 3.59 earned run average and 69 strikeouts. He has pitched in 86 career games with a 9-14 record and 3.86 ERA.
