For the second time this season and the third time in the past two campaigns, Colorado State Pueblo quarterback Roman Fuller has been selected as the player of the week by the Colorado Chapter of the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame.
As the 12th recipient of the NFF Colorado Chapter award this season, Fuller was announced Tuesday as the player of the week after the voting by the chapter’s board of directors and the sports information departments at the 10 colleges and universities that compete in football in the Centennial State.
Other players nominated this week included Colorado State defensive lineman Andrew Laurich, and Western Colorado quarterback Drew Nash. Since the start of the Colorado Chapter’s POW program in 2003, Fuller is one of 36 players to win the honor multiple times. PAST RECIPIENTS
A senior from Decatur, Texas, Fuller had a record-setting performance in CSU Pueblo’s third-straight come-from-behind win on Saturday as the ThunderWolves posted a 30-27 double overtime victory over Chadron State.
In guiding the Pack to their second-straight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference title and 10th overall (five outright and five shared), Fuller set new school records for pass attempts (66) and pass completions (40) as he had a career-high 442 yards.
Two of Fuller’s touchdown passes came in both overtime periods as his 1-yard pass to Reggie Retzlaff gave the Pack a 24-17 lead in the first overtime period and his 19-yard pass in double overtime to Marcellus Honeycutt, Jr., sealed CSU Pueblo’s victory to help the school win its 25th consecutive RMAC game and its ninth overall win.
A total of 25 players from CSU Pueblo have been recognized 37 times by the NFF Colorado Chapter as players of the week. A cousin, Chance Fuller, was recognized by the chapter as a ThunderWolves player during the 2023 season.

Laurich was a first-time nominee for the award after the sophomore from Yorkville, Ill, recovered three fumbles in the Rams’ 20-17 setback at New Mexico last Saturday. His three fumble recoveries are a Mountain West record, as he is the first Football Bowl Subdivision player to recover that many fumbles in a game since the 2022 season. Laurich is also the first Ram to record three fumble recoveries in a game since 1995.

In guiding Western Colorado to a 42-28 victory over Colorado Mesa in Gunnison on Saturday, Nash factored into all of Western’s touchdowns as he completed 15 passes for 326 yards and four scores while rushing for 31 yards and two touchdowns.
A senior from Torrance, Calif., Nash’s TD passes were of 10-, 71-, 52-, and 4-yards, and his rushing TDs were of 23 yards to start Western’s scoring and 8 yards to finish off the day. His four TD passes elevated his career total to 74, setting a new program record.
